UPC-A barcode generator

Choose UPC-A for a 12-digit barcode. Enter 11 digits to calculate the check digit, or enter all 12 digits for validation. Use the product identifier required by your retailer or marketplace.

Code 128 barcode generator

Choose CODE128 for internal references, stock labels or other identifiers containing letters, numbers and punctuation. This tool accepts printable ASCII characters for Code 128; accented characters are not supported.

A barcode image does not register a product number

This tool creates an image from the value you enter. It does not assign ownership or register an EAN or UPC product identifier. Before selling a product, check the identifier requirements of your retailer or marketplace. Our guide to obtaining an official product barcode explains the distinction.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions people ask most often.

What's the difference between EAN-13, UPC-A and CODE128?

EAN-13 is the European retail product standard (13 digits). UPC-A is its US counterpart (12 digits). CODE128 is a general-purpose format for logistics and warehousing that handles letters and digits, but not accented characters.

Do you store the value I enter?

No. Generation happens entirely in your browser, just like the QR codes. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.

Why did the generator reject my check digit?

EAN-13 and UPC-A end in a digit calculated from the ones before it — if you make one up or mistype it, the code would be unreadable. Leave it blank and the generator will work it out for you.

Does CODE128 support accented characters?

No, the CODE128 standard only covers the plain English alphabet, digits and punctuation. Words with accents need to be typed without them.

What quality does the code download in?

The code downloads as a high-resolution PNG, suitable for printing on products, labels and warehouse documentation.
